There are many to choose from, below is our most common walk for visitors wanting to experience the tranquility of the Mere and woodland, however for more walks and including downloadable information we would direct you to Shropshire's Great Outdoors this site is dedicated to exploring in depth the whole of Shropshire and of course Ellesmere, with a huge amount of resources.

Start
From the Boat House turn right and walk along the prom.

Step 2
Go through the gates into Cremorne Gardens.

Step 3
Follow path passing Tricia’s playground on your left and keep going around the Mere.

Step 4
Go through the avenue of horse chestnut trees to where the path forks. Bear right into Penley Woods. Carry on along the path until you reach a kissing gate.

Step 5
Go through the kissing gate and follow the path to another kissing gate into the woods. Follow the path until you reach another gate. Continue to the ‘The Crimps’ at the edge of the Mere.

Now retrace your steps to the start.

The area offers a variety of fishing experiences, from peaceful coarse fishing on the renowned Mere (private licence) to stretches of canal and surrounding waters that provide excellent opportunities to catch species including pike, perch, roach, bream and carp. Whether you're an experienced angler seeking a new challenge or simply looking to enjoy a relaxing day by the water, Ellesmere's unique waterside setting makes it one of Shropshire's most attractive fishing destinations. Visitors should ensure they hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence and check any local permit requirements before fishing.
Cycling
Cycling is one of the best ways to soak up the unspoilt landscapes.
There are several mapped cycle routes which have been chosen to suit a range of interests and abilities, the shortest route being 10 miles and the longest 29½ miles. cycled over a day,
Ellesmere also offers the option to hire a bike whilst you are visiting with a total service wrap – Offering drop off and pick up from your holiday accommodation (Within a 10 mile radius) Along with a supporting hub for cycle supplies or service if you encounter any problems whilst here cycling.
