Accessibility in Ellesmere

At Discover Ellesmere, we want everyone to feel welcome and able to enjoy everything our town has to offer.

We recognise that accessibility means different things to different people. Whether you are a wheelchair user, have limited mobility, are travelling with young children, have sensory needs, or simply want to know what facilities are available before you visit, we aim to provide clear and helpful information to support your journey.

As a community-led organisation, we are at the beginning of our accessibility journey and are committed to continually improving the information we provide for residents and visitors alike.

Before travelling, we recommend checking accessibility information directly with individual businesses and attractions, as facilities can vary.

We are currently working with local organisations to gather and share more detailed accessibility information across Ellesmere.  This is the start of our journey.

Planning your visit

Parking

Blue badge holders can park in the town centre car parks and on designated on-street parking bays throughout the town. These are conveniently located close to the high street, Market Hall, and main visitor facilities.

Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilet facilities are available in the town centre, located adjacent to the main car park— easy to find on arrival.

Walking Routes

Two of our most popular routes are suitable for visitors who need flat, easy-level walking:

Colemere Circular A beautiful, peaceful 1.75-mile loop around Colemere nature reserve. Entirely flat and at easy level — ideal for pushchairs, wheelchairs, and those who prefer a gentle pace. Allow around 50 minutes.

The Mere Woodland Walk A flat, accessible route taking in Ellesmere's stunning glacial Mere and surrounding woodland. A wonderful way to experience the natural heart of the town.

Town Centre & Attractions

The Market Hall has step-free access, making it straightforward to enjoy Ellesmere's indoor market and community events without barriers. Moolah (deli, cafe and the home of our Tourist Information) have access ramps and designated entrance.

We are currently reviewing accessibility information for our independent shops, cafes, accommodation, and further attractions, and will update this page as that information is confirmed.

We'd love your feedback

If you experience any difficulties using this website or have suggestions on how we can improve accessibility information, we would love to hear from you.

Your feedback helps us make Discover Ellesmere more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
